DoorDing Privacy Policy

DoorDing ("we," "us," or "our") provides a text-message-based food ordering service that lets customers order from participating restaurants by SMS. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
1. Information We Collect
- Phone number. Collected automatically when you text our number; used to reply to you, deliver order confirmations, and remember your order history.
- Message content. The texts you send us (menu selections, commands like REORDER) are processed to fulfill your order and stored as part of your order history.
- Order information. Items ordered, order totals, timestamps, and the restaurant you ordered from.
- Payment information. Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number; we receive only confirmation that payment succeeded and a payment reference.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To take, process, and deliver your food orders to the restaurant.
- To send you order-related text messages: menus, carts, payment links, confirmations, and pickup/delivery updates.
- To power convenience features you request, such as reordering your previous order or saved favorites.
- To share order details (items, order reference, your phone number) with the restaurant fulfilling your order and, where applicable, the driver delivering it.
3. SMS Messaging Terms
- You opt in to receive messages by texting our number first. We only message you in response to your messages and about orders you place.
- Message frequency varies with your use (typically several messages per order).
- Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile carrier and plan.
- Reply STOP at any time to stop receiving messages. Reply HELP for help.
- No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be sold, rented, or shared with any third parties.
4. Sharing of Information
We share information only as needed to run the service:
- Restaurants receive your order details and phone number so they can prepare and hand off your order.
- Service providers that operate our infrastructure: Twilio (messaging), Stripe (payments), Airtable (data storage), and Square or other point-of-sale providers (order delivery to the restaurant). Each processes your data only to provide their service to us.
- Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights or the safety of others.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
5. Data Retention
We retain your phone number and order history while you remain a user of the service so features like reorder work. You may request deletion at any time (see Contact below), and we will delete your data unless we are required to keep it (for example, payment records).
6. Security
We use reputable providers (Twilio, Stripe, Airtable, Square) with industry-standard security, restrict access to credentials, and transmit data over encrypted connections. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.
7. Children
DoorDing is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the latest revision. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
